thanks teacher

this past week has been teacher appreciation week at our school. i made several simple sets to give to the teachers. the card below was a free printable from here. i just added my own punched out apple. fast & easy. i have a teacher who has made a permanent impression on me....her name is mrs. fujiwara. she was my 3rd-4th grade teacher. what i learned in her class are still the best memories i have of elementary school. do you all have a teacher that has made an impact in your life? please share---i'd love to hear!
here is an idea for using up leftover paper: cut them in to strips in varying lengths, fish-tail the ends and stamp a fun sentiment and you have a quick card. i made a couple of these to send to moms i think that are fabulous, for mother's day.
here is bryan dancing to "elvis" at the farmer's market last weekend.
i dragged the boys to the antique market before the farmer's market. these were the "me wants" but were too much moolah. one day....
the boys didn't leave empty handed. i'll show you their treasures & mine on another post. nothing too exciting that i bought but fun finds. thanks for stopping by! have a great weekend and to all the moms out there---happy mother's day!

sometimes, i need ME time

hi there! i made this 8x8 layout of the boys. it's a picture from our trip to hawaii earlier this year. it's such a treat to spot a sea turtle when in hawaii....the boys didn't really care for mr. turtle much. they were more interested in playing in the sand.
these cute turtles are from lawn fawn. PP is echo park. i glossy accented the turtle shells. love that stuff!

made a quick card while playing with echo park paper. the inside is also decorated.

i altered a $1 stamp replacing the birthday wishes with 'fishes'. get it?? ;) used the alphas form this lawn fawn set.

so.... sometimes, you just need "me" time, right? the last time the boys were at the antique flea market with me, i was constantly worried they'll knock over something priceless. so i told them next time, i'm going by myself and i did just that!
i got there by 8am and there were already a ton of people! look at this fun typewriter! how about a teeny tiny sewing machine?

you get an arm workout ironing clothes with these!

again, an arm workout with these ancient mixers!i so wanted this box of old threads. most of them were wooden. i think the seller was asking $30. (ouch)

such a pretty display!

lovely

remember this movie?

some noise makers...............i have noise makers of the human kind. their names are brandon & bryan. J/Kto just think, little girls played with these!

2 of those flower frogs came home with me.

love the watering can even if it was just for play.

just thought this was interesting.

so fun. i imagine this was in front of a store to keep a child busy while one of the parents were inside shopping.

i would've taken this owl home except his eyes look cockeyed! that would bother me :(

me & my sister actually had a KFC toy like this one when were were little. i remember having so much fun with it! it had stools inside and everything! this set here had cars but i don't remember our set having vehicles. BTW, did anyone remember the pies KFC had? lemon merigne, chocolate.....yum! they were individual sized! toys! the boys would have had a field day at this vendor's booth!

ultraman

lose your key? try finding it in here!

my regret is not picking up this strawberry water dispenser thingy at this stand here. it was only $2 too! whyyyyyyyyyyyyy didn't i get it? i didn't because i wasn't even halfway done at this point & i didn't want to lug it around. after i was done & walking back, i popped over there to see if it was still there and it wasn't. my mistake.

this lady who ran this stand had some great stuff! i ended up buying 2 bags of vintage thread spools and sewing notions from her. she gave me a deal too!

so much stuff!

i saw a lot of folks snatching up these folding measuring sticks.

cute display

makes me want to make some of these fabric pennants. i loved my morning walking through the antique flea market. it's good to have some "me" time now & then.

thanks for hanging in there to look through all my pictures! anyone have favorite flea market finds?

flea market pics

hello! just sharing a BUNCH of iPhone pics! these are from a recent visit to the griffith observatory. shhhhhh, don't tell the park ranger!

yes, this little boy dresses himself

after the observatory, we went on a little hike. one day, we'll hike all the way to the hollywood sign.

this is a random picture one weekend on our way to the park. this guy might as well have rode his bike naked! LOL

ok---here are the pictures from the antique flea market.

can you even imagine a toddler being pushed in one of these?!

and look at that rocking horse! (except it doesn't rock)

see that bag of buttons behind the swan dish? the guy wanted $20. lovely vintage buttons 'all taken off of old clothes' but not $20 lovely!

this booth here, she decorates flower frogs with metal or wooden letters to spell out a phrase. i just wanted the flower frog but she wasn't selling them separate.

bryan was very intrigued by this display of vintage clocks.

i wanted some of these old bingo cards but that wans't what i was really looking for.

i did leave with those jello mold tins. more pics of those can be seen in this post.

this puppy was tagged at $5...not sure if it's authentic because it seemed so cheap. maybe i missed a zero on the tag!

this case had a bunch of old action figures. the boys were very interested. hubby pointed out there was a mork (from mork and mindy) figure in there. i don't even recall ever seeing a mork figure!

very old crepe paper

lovely trims

old ledger books. the penmanship back then was beautiful!

beautiful mirror!

kinda scary isn't this? a basket full of doll heads. makes you think what happened to the bodies!

here's a recent project of mine. it's my crazy birdhouse fit for a groovy birdy! it was fun making this. layered some printed paper and toned it down with some vintage music sheets for the sides of the birdhouse. added some punched butterflies.

TFL!
