it's the pits

how is everybody's summer going? we are discovering fun places to explore with the boys this summer. this past sunday, we went here, the la brea tar pits. amazing that all of this is in the middle of a busy city! you can read more interesting facts here.
learning some fun facts with daddy
a rear view
scary
there were other panels exactly like this one here totalling 404 wolf heads found in the tar pits. pretty amazing.
the picture below here is called the fishbowl. you can see real scientists working on cleaning fossils or putting together bones back.
these are all eagle foots found in the tar pits too........no wonder they're close to extinction.they have a little garden area outside where we saw some turtles & koi.
we took a walk around the outside to get the whole effect-----tar smell and all! if you click on the photo below, you can see the oily slick of the tar.
brybry having fun walking around w/ his juicebox. i just LOVE that hat on him. my favorite!

apparently, there are still lots of areas to be excavated.walking around the grounds, this is a common sight. a puddle of tar in the middle of grassy areas.

bitter melon growing in the backgroundnext door to the tar pits was the LACMA. the boys had fun running zig zag around these 202 old cast iron street lights. look at the little monkey in the back......
of course i was waiting for the 1st boy to run smack into a light post but i am happy to report, neither brandon OR bryan were injured =)
self timers are great, aren't they?
funny note here......
BEFORE:

AFTER:
the hill is pretty steep so i told the boys not to run down it. so what do they do? run down it. and brybry takes a spill rolling down half the way down. me & hubs were just laughing so hard!!! i guess we really should have helped brybry up BUT, i told him not to run & he did it so he deserved it right? no blood----it was all good. look at brandon's face too....little "i-told-you-so"face!

TFL at all these pics and for stopping by!

last days of kinder

just sharing some more [ok, a lot more] pics from brandon's last day of kindergarten. cannot believe he is starting 1st grade soon.here's what i put all the handmade cards in...a handy little tote that can be used for the beach. this was for his teacher.
a set of cards that were quick & easy to make
this was for the other teacher in brandon's class who teaches the afternoon kinder class
i gave her a set of cards like these below

bubbles!
brandon gave these little sand pails filled with a juice box, a pack of fruit snack and the bubbles to his clasmates on the last day of school. i thought it would be fun for the kids to have this to kick off their summer. i even made tags w/ each child's name to tie onto the pails. it read: kindergarten flew by so fast. have a great summer! see you in 1st grade!
i did have brandon write his name on each of the tags.....33 times!
another 2 parents asked of they could put their goodies for the kids in the pail so of course, the more the merrier!
brandon had so much fun this past school year

got their tatoos
on their last day of school, they had a luau celebration. here is brandon making his ice cream sundae. my station was dishing out the marshmallow topping.
always making faces
more friends
it was a day of playing games & eating
mrs. haderlein sure made a great impression on brandon. so important that he got a good taste of school at an early age!
aren't these beautiful? hubby hates these flowers. what's there to hate?this is in front of my babysitter's house. i just had to snap a pic of her & the boys in front of it. i am so thankful i have such a wonderful & great sitter who loves the boys like they were her own!
thanks for looking at ALLLLLLL these photos. long post but thanks for stopping by! TGIF!!

have an egg-cellent monday

look at what hatched.........2 little boys in a dino egg! we were in san diego last weekend at the wild animal park. i am always late in posting 'current' events around here but better late than never!
hoping these cards will bring happy smiles to all you monday-haters like me!

some more pics from the park. look closely on top of that range rover......a lion just chillin'!! the big yellow ball is a hot air balloon that is grounded at the moment.here are the boys waiting in line for the safari tour ride. it was a hot day but luckily, water misters, around the lines made waiting more bearable!hiding out in a log
brybry with his fake smile. didn't want to take a picture w/ his momma i guess =( BTW, he wears that watch everywhere we go. it's a ben 10 watch that projects a lighted image---in the DARK! he wears it at breakfast, lunch & dinner, shopping, playground, in the car. 1st thing he wakes up in the morning is look for that watch. we got him that one because he was constantly stealing big brother's wolf ranger watch (see the very 1st pic in this post).a cute little deer
on the safari tourmy worms
thanks for stopping by! thanks to my crafty gals for alerting me that my BBQ card here was featured here. sometimes, i forget what i do or did much less remember what day it is!

what's cookin'?

what are everyone's plans for the jult 4th weekend? we don't have any yet---just to stay cool. made this card for jenny's challenge here.

my sis & BIL came to visit us a couple weeks ago. the boys L O V E them! we are so happy that there will be a girl to spoil come late october!!! the boys were so cute talking to her tummy! they had a slight argument on how the baby will come out. i think they both agreed that she will come out of my sister's mouth! we'll leave it at that.......................

we look alike, right?!

my big sis bought us this. perfect for summer! this makes popsicles in less than 10 minutes!!! great for impatient little 3 & 5 yr old boys! the penguin pair card above will be for her to thank her for this neat pop maker.

thanks, sis & BIL!!
