birthday giveaway!

good morning all! as promised, here is a blog candy giveaway as promised in honor of my birthday today. there may be more thrown in...i was just in a rush to scoot off to work today. just another day right? the boys & i celebrated this weekend and they treated me royally! :) thank you to all who sent birthay cards and greetings! i am truly blessed to have such great family & friends and bloggie friends i've met! just leave a comment to be entered. no need to be a follower unless you want to :)this giveaway is open to all....i will weed out the spammers. i've changed my comment format to be moderated due to unusual new followers who have nothing to do with crafting and are not family and some spam comments i've gotten these past couple months. i will close comments on april 9th, the day of my 2nd card class i'm teaching. i will have one of the boys pick a winner from names thrown in a hat!

birthday cards

happy friday! 2 birthday cards to share with you today. we have 2 birthday parties to go to saturday. hopefully it won't be raining........
cute story to share with you. i was going through the boys' drawers and taking out clothes they've outgrown the other day. so thursday morning, bryan went into his sock drawer and said, 'hey, these are not my socks. these are my brother's'. so i told him brandon doesn't fit those socks anymore and he happily said, 'yay, new socks'! he's such a good kid---happy & so excited to get hand-me-downs....even brandon's old stinky socks!!
an update on brandon's collection for japan: we have collected over $40 now. thanks to some generous family, friends & coworkers.
i still have to take a picture of the blog candy i'm giving away to celebrate my birthday. stay tuned :)

we MUST be doing something right

i found this note inside the bag i bring to my sitter's house the other day. brandon, my 6 year old, wrote this. he didn't even tell me about it...i found it. and it was touching to read it. he has such a caring nature. when he saw me watching th news and saw the damage the earthquake did to japan, he wanted to help. and i mean, he wanted to HELP as in flying to japan to help clean up. please click onto the pic if you cannot read his words. ahhhh, sweet isn't he? don't mind that he didn't even spell his own name right.....it's his message he wanted to get across. :) i asked him later in the day when i picked him up from school about how he wanted to help. he asked if i could help him help japan. so i told him we could ask friends & family for spare change to donate. so, some of my coworkers donated some money [thanks]. we have a good start for a nice donation.
makes me feel good that we are raising him right........a couple of cards to share. love using vintage music sheets---hard to part with the buttons (i'm such a hoarder of buttons).

a simple, one dimensional birthday card....easy to send.

TFL! have a great weekend. be on the lookout for birthday blog candy coming up soon! i just have to take a pic of the goodies.

successful 1st class

here are some pictures from my 1st class at stamp fever on march 12th. we had a great turnout---7 gals who were fantastic to "teach". i really didn't teach them anything they didn't already know! it was more like getting together with your friends and hanging out on a saturday getting crafty.we used these lawn fawn sets: bannerific, critters in the 'burb, hello friend, sophie's sentiments, and petite florals to make 3 cards.

everybody busy at work.....
putting on the finishing touches
here is linda (standing) and nancy in the background. i thank both of them for giving the opportunity to teach at the store and for their support.
this little girl came into the store with her mom & little brother while we had the class. she walked over and asked if she could stamp something. i gave her some paper and she stamped some dogs. she was pretty good i might add at 6 years old! hope to see her at my next class!
a picture of everybody holding up their 3 finished cards! i hope to see all of them at my next class (april 9th)!! samples to come----i'm working on it!
my silly boys. took them to the wild animal park.
brandon & bryan as wild boars
bryan has a huge obsession with maps! he's really good at reading them too. we had to make a lot of stops just so he can find out exactly where we were on the map before we could go on
thank you to everybody who emailed, texted or commented on bryan's recent night terrors. he had them for 4 nights in a row. we decided to take him off his OTC cold & cough syrup and he was fine after that. i don't know if that was a side effect during the time of his sickness but it seemed to do the trick. i'm SO glad he's back to 'normal'!yes, i did organize all their books......i'm anal like that. it won't last long. but makes me feel better that i tried to organize them. one more thing to share---- this little guy was on my neighbor's roof one day. we saw it fly right by us. strange....i'm sure he was lost!

night terror

oh boy....what a rough 4 nights it has been for us. this sweet little guy had a high fever friday afternoon and broke through the next day. i should have know something was wrong when he refused ice cream. he NEVER refuses ice cream!
so that night, he popped himself up from bed, screaming! he got up & told us he doesn't want anyone to touch or hold him. he seemed to be alert but 'not'. he was also running away from us! scary in the middle of the night. he finally calmed down after about 15 minutes.
it looked like he was trying to throw up but was afraid to. we thought that's why he told us his tummy hurts and was holding his mouth closed AND running away from us.
repeat this for saturday, sunday, and monday. all the same but getting increasingly violent with each episode but the duration is shortening. he would bang on the walls, hit anything he came near to and told us to 'don't touch me', 'go away', 'i don't want you'......all while screaming from the top of his lungs. we were afraid someone might call the cops on us!
when this happens, he is not the sweet little bry bry we all know. he seems as if he's possessed! an out of body experience. like sleepwalking. when he snaps out of it, he has no idea what just happened and comes to snuggle with us. it toally wipes him out---he's so tired the next day. we are too!
after talking to several moms about this, i came to the conclusion that it is night terrors he is going through. not sure when it will end [soon i hope]. but very interesting if you want to read about it.
if your little one has experienced this, please let me know. what you think might have cause it, how did it go away, if anything help stop it.
i'm getting ready for my 1st card class here that i am teaching. here's a few more lawn fawn card examples for the store i brought in.

have a great day.....wish me a good night's rest! ;)

i will be disowned

i just love sleeping kiddos.......snapped this picture of my [lately not so sweet] bryan. my children will disown me when they're older!

had time for 1 card on wednesday. my day was packed....in the AM, bryan had a playdate. i did laundy while they were playing but wondered why the load stopped early. turns out, i broke the washer! the night before, i was taking laundry out of the dryer and i wanted to fold it before taking it upstairs. so i accidently dropped the washer lid down and didn't think anything of it. turns out a plastic piece broke off that when pressed down, it runs the washer. i used my macgyver skills and fixed it...temporarily. we'll have to get the kenmore guy out but hopefully, that minor little piece won't be a major headache in labor costs! our washer is 10 years old & working just fine.

then me & a mom friend went to sprinkles to go reward oursleves. then i got my haircut. came home and had 1/2 hr to make this card. i can't believe i didn't stick any embellishments on this card---just stickles.

then it was time to pick up brandon from school. walked home w/ our friends and decided to let the kids burn off their energy at the playground for almost 2 hrs. then i hosed down the boys in the tub. they brought so much sand home--it's in their hair, pants pockets! fed them, did homework, then off to swim lesson and finally dinner. all in a day's work, right?TFL!

when i should be sleeping
