 I was going through my photo files and yellow jumped out at me and thought i'd do another random post. the theme---yellow of course!

 hubby won tickets to the fair so we couldn't pass up another chance to go on the last day! and bonus---the free passes included a minion. at first, we thought it was a little plush minion but we were all surprised when they handed us this ginormous minion! the boys were super excited!

 it barely fit in my trunk!!!

sharpened 60 no.2 Ticonderoga pencils for the boys back-to-school supplies. all I have to say is the electric pencil sharpener rocks! a good investment!

I had an abundant amount of zucchini  flowers this year but only one zucchini. all the other ones turned out to be duds. I heard you can eat the flowers. has anyone ever tried?

hello! I made this card below for a friend who was visiting California from Canada. some of you know I frequent starbucks often and I always hate to throw the coffee cup sleeve away. so I recycle it. I used my tag die to die cut a tag out of it. I saw the 'panama' card while waiting for my drink one day. it was so pretty and I knew I could incorporate it into a card. (the back of the card has info on the coffee itself) just a little unusual and a different looking card. :)

 

I go running with 2 other moms at 5:30am once in a while and we go on our 'starbucks run'. we park at a starbucks, run and when we're done, we go get a drink. an incentive to run hard! this is what I saw one morning at the starbucks. loving the minion chalk art!

 you won't believe how many times my name gets screwed up! this one was right.

when I was in Hawaii back in april, I picked this up as my souvenir. I have acquired a couple more since. it's starbucks 'you are here' collection. it's a nice sized mug and everything seems to taste better in it! ;)

back to school--back to blogging

 well, it's definitely been a while but here I am. we had a real busy year and it's the start of another busy school year.
here is bryan....a big time 1st grader now! he had a great kindergarten year! I took on the room mom role in his class which happened to be the year his teacher was retiring. added pressure. more random pictures of the boys' past school year in future random posts.

 and here is my 4th grader. it's so chaotic on the 1st day of school. bringing all their school supplies, finding their new classrooms and trying to get decent pictures. always hard to split the time of 1 parent between the two boys. I think this was the 1st year eddie didn't get a chance to go to school with us on the 1st day.

 I was all excited to have bryan take a picture with this chalk art board I made. had it right by the front door in a bag on the doorknob the night before so I wouldn't forget. so what happens? I forgot. but I came back with it after school and took some shots of bryan with it. technically, it counts!

 can you tell he wasn't amused at me taking pictures?!

hello spring

as some of you know, I started running again in preparation of running my first 5K race in over %* years!! I run when I can, AKA when I feel like it! usually, I go for a run right after I drop off the boys at school. I always feel better after a run.



so 3 days before my 5K, I got a fever. let's see.....1st person to get sick was hubby, followed by bryan, then me and lastly, Brandon. it wiped us all out and the boys took turns being absent from school. I was feeling miserable. I was trying to see if someone could run the race Saturday in my place. I hated to miss the run after paying the entry fee. I couldn't find anyone so last minute so hubby told me I should just do it and that I could walk it if I couldn't run.

and so I decided to do it----sick as a dog and all! me and the boys before the race.

and me after the race. I ran and walked. proud of myself that I went that morning and glad I did it. watch out mud run.....i'm coming for you next! I clocked in at 35:39. I was shooting for under 30 minutes but I did what I could!

this past weekend, me and hubby went to a wedding without the boys! and sunday, the boys were invited to a laser tag party. we even got to play a round! so much fun! so it was a good opportunity to make some cards for the occasion!

saw this idea on pinterest and knew I had to make some!

a great way to use and recycle jars. I spray painted the lids, added edible grass, a chocolate bunny and added robin's eggs (whoppers). I finished them off with some lawn fawn baker's twine and added a little tag w/ a stamped a lawn fawn bunny. will be gifting these to mom friends and teachers.

bryan informed me last week that he has a loose tooth. his first! so I had to get working on his tooth fairy pillow. he's so excited but I also know he's scared and nervous!

pyrex obsession

i have been obsessing lately over vintage pyrex. if you've seen my pins on pinterest, you'd know! i remember my mom having a green mixing bowl when i was growing up. for all you vintage pyrex fans, i believe it was the 'crazy daisy' or 'spring blossom' pattern. i recently called her to ask her if we still had it. she didn't know what i was talking about! i must take a trip home and find it!! i really hope we still have it!



let me introduce to you a little happiness....my recent find at the antique flea market! its a divided caserole dish with the lid. i love the color and pattern. [daisy]



i am the proud owner of the two bowls in the yellow/orange shade in the picture below. [butterfly gold] i used it one night to serve veggies in and hubby was totally against using "used" dishware! LOL



i have been running once or twice or 3x a week. just when i feel like it. :) a mom from school recruited me into doing a 'mud run' in a few months. i'm not sure what i've gotten myself into! i promised myself  LAST year that i would run a race before my birthday. that never happened. so i swore i would finish a race before my birthday THIS year. wish me luck on 3/16. doing it with 12 days to spare! ;)


last saturday, we took the boys to the beach. brandon has been wanted to go to collect shells. it was such  a nice day so we went in the morning. the boys had their pails & looked for shells. me and hubby relaxed by watching the the waves. all the sudden, we saw dolphins and whales! so amazing!
